Eating to Fuel Your Training

A good daily eating plan should be simple. Eating the right food at the right time supports your workouts and helps you build lean muscle and lose fat. Whether you want more muscle or to get leaner, think of food as fuel for your body. Keeping yourself fuelled through the day keeps you on track and helps you reach your goal.

Start the day right

After a long sleep your body is ready to absorb essential nutrients. Breakfast that includes protein and some quick energy from foods like seasonal fruit, bread or muesli gives you a strong start to the day.

Keep it regular

Through the day, choose small, regular meals that include protein and fibre-rich foods such as crunchy green vegetables. They keep you sustained and satisfied.

Eat before and after your workout

Meals before and after training can include carbohydrates your body can use quickly, to power the session and to repair muscle afterwards.

It's important to eat before you train. Heading into a workout on an empty stomach makes it harder to put in a really good session, because you simply don't have the energy to give it everything. Give yourself the fuel you need for the activity ahead and you'll get the full benefit of your workout.
